This miniature ecosystem has been thriving in an almost completely isolated state for more than forty years. It has been watered just once in that time.The original single spiderwort plant has grown and multiplied, putting out seedlings. As it has access to light, it continues to photosynthesize. The water builds up on the inside of the bottle and then rains back down on the plants in a miniature version of the water cycle.
As leaves die, they fall off and rot at the bottom producing the carbon dioxide and nutrients required for more plants to grow.

MINT JULEP
Ingredients:
2 oz. Bourbon
4 Fresh mint sprigs
2 Level teaspoons powdered sugar
2 Teaspoons water
Preparation:
Muddle the mint, sugar and water in a glass.  (If you don’t have a muddler, the back of a wooden spoon works fine.) Add ice and pour in the bourbon.  Garnish with an additional sprig of mint, if desired.

1 cup tomato juice (we used V8)½ cup blueberries3 tsp Worcestershire sauce¼ tsp hot sauce1 Tbsp lemon juice1 Tbsp blueberry ketchup2 Tbsp pickled okra juice2 tsp bacon, finely chopped2-4 oz. lime tequilaHoney and hickory smoked salt for the rimBacon, blueberries, and pickled okra for garnish (optional)

Combine all ingredients (except your rim and garnish ingredients) and puree until smooth.
